I would love to help all middle and high school students with their math, science and computer subjects. I am also available to assist adults who need to gain or sharpen their computer skills. I am an expert user of Microsoft Office and have experience in teaching computer subjects such as Introduction to Computers, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access at college level. I obtained my BA degree from the University of Pretoria, where I majored in Information Science. I worked as a Paraprofessional in the math and science departments of a high school for the past four years, and have the ability and experience to work with students who struggle with learning and/or behavioral disabilities.

My approach to teaching involves finding the best learning venue for each individual student. I don't believe in 'fitting' the student to the method, rather finding the method that works for each individual. I use phonetics when that is the simplest method, the challenge of games/competition when that is what clicks for my student. I have even used graphics to create a learning environment for students who lack imagination! The goose-bumps I get when I see the 'lightbulb' of recognition turn on in a student's eyes remains my reason for wanting to share the pursuit of knowledge with everyone! After I earned my BFA, I started working towards my Master of Art in Art History. I have an understanding of most studio art forms and extensive knowledge of Art History. When I started working on my thesis, I joined the Minnesota Reading Corps, and have been teaching early literacy ever since. For the last three years, I have been working in Head Start classes, preparing children for kindergarten. I am currently enrolled in the FasTrack program at Bemidji State University working on getting my teaching license in Visual Arts K-12.
