I have taken the ASVAB twice, once in high school and again right before I enlisted. I placed in the 99th and 96th percentile respectively with a GT score of 125, and all other line scores in the 130s. I am currently active duty Army. My math skills include all math disciplines up to and including calculus II, however I am strongest in advanced algebra and below.
I have a hands on teaching style with the ability help you understand how to come to the right answer through logic and reasoning. I believe that memorization is NOT learning, and that teaching WHY an answer is correct is more important than the answer itself.

I recently graduated from the Evergreen State College with a degree in mathematics. My other fields of study included chemistry, computer science, and physics. I have numerous hours of laboratory experience to support my in class and text book understanding of the materials covered. I've been a tutor at TESC for 3 years now working with students from all walks of life and working on any scientific material I've had any experience with.
I believe that whenever I'm working with a student they have the capacity to learn and internalize the material. I believe that the student can learn the material. My method of mathematical and scientific instruction is based off the Polya style of teaching where the instructor guides their students by questions and reviewing the known information. AFQT(combined ASVAB scores) required minimum scores for people with a high school diploma as of May 2011 are as follows: Air Force (AFQT) 50 (GED is 65), Air National Guard (AFQT) 31 (GED Graduate is 50), Coast Guard (AFQT) 40 (GED is 50), Navy (AFQT) 50 (or 65 with GED), Marines (AFQT) 32 (or 50 with GED), Army (AFQT) 31. GED holders who earn 15 college credits 100 level or greater are considered equivalent with those holding high school diplomas. This would result in only needing the minimum score to enlist.
