Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. I then moved on to being a one on one with high school students with special needs in the Baltimore area.
I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. I feel that young students learn best when they can physically learn, such as through blocks/puzzles/interactive learning devices and other similar approaches. I try to let the student use their hands as much as I can to aid in their learning process. Special Educator with many hats and minds to utilize.

I believe that we all learn better one way versus another but it does not negate the many ways of learning as well. As a teacher I believe that everyone wants to learn but many are unable or have not been able to see the connections it has on our lives and that we all have talents and skills that needs support, encouragement or attention.
