My comments on tutoring Reading : The thought of reading an entire book can be a daunting task for a child, but I strive to teach students that once you start using your imagination, reading can become one of your favorite things to do!

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.

Helping your student feel good about themselves

My style of teaching is patience, understanding individual needs, and building self confidence in the student. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, ad 4th grade for 10 years in Ascension Parish and St. Tammany Parish. I love teaching children of all ages. I believe that everyone should have equal opportunities in acquiring a good education. My opinion is that all children do not learn in the same ways. Thus, some children may require additional assistance, such as tutoring. I believe that in these cases, children should be in a one-on-one learning atmosphere with their tutor, so that they get the right amount of time, patience, understanding, and attention needed to help them.
