A Little Bit About Me...

My most recent rewarding interaction with kids has been been the result of functioning as a mentor for the LC Bird High School robotics team. I've have been able to motivate many general students to join the “robotics geeks”. I find that all students have something valuable to add to the team if they are just approached and guided appropriately and offered respect. I can connect with each student on some level, whether it be academics, sports, science, or just humor. A Little Bit About Me...

The most important skill I can teach someone is how. I believe in not only helping students to understand the material but instilling in them a joy of learning. I want students to understand how to get to the answers, why the answers are correct and how to do it themselves. This skill boosts self esteem and confidence. I also believe that it is very important to teach study skills and techniques that can be applied to master any subject or exam. Sometimes students get overwhelmed, but one of the most important things a student can learn is how to plan ahead and use their time efficiently. In addition I performed laboratory research at the College of William and Mary for a thesis and have 2 years of experience tutoring in Elementary Spanish, Computer Science, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.
