I currently attend Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Math is one of my top subjects!

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. If I can't enjoy what I'm learning, then I won't learn it and as such I strive to make whatever I'm teaching enjoyable for the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching. I feel that one-on-one interaction will always help a child gain knowledge of a subject.
I have a BS in Environmental Science with a Chemistry minor. I also have a MS in Environmental/Soil Science. As a NASA scholar and Research Assistant, I taught undergraduate students Soil Science Lab Classes. I have tutored Elementary level reading and writing as a volunteer. I greatly enjoy seeing the students achieve their learning goals and their yearly progress In 2000, I began to teach special education and teaching special needs children with learning disabilities. I taught grades 3rd-5th in a self-contained, reading, math, and language skills and middle school grades 6th- 8th. After Hurricane Katrina, I moved to Pensacola, Fl. I taught regular ed. 3rd grade, all subjects,special ed., 3rd-5th and SRA reading classes, high school grades 9-12, career ed., health, and reading to behaviorally challenged students. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006 wiht a degree in Psychology. While attending USM I taught a combined class Of 3rd And 4th grades. for the past 16 years I have tutor Reading, Math, History, and basic science to children in my family and community. I also substitute teach for 3 school districts.
I believe a child can learn any subject put before him/her. With the belief that a child can learn, it is my challenge to find out what style of learning best fits each child being tutored.
