A Little Bit About Me...

During my sophomore year in college, I tutored a 10th grader in geometry for two semesters. I also tutored him and one of his peers for one semester in Algebra II. I then got a job as a laboratory teaching assistant. I taught laboratories for non-biology majors for 2 years, which gave me the ability to explain the subject matter in a concise way that the students could understand. I also became proficient in making detailed lesson plans according to the curriculum suggested for each lab session. I believe a "hands-on" approach is the best way to retain knowledge given all learning styles. If we do it, we will remember it. If learning is considered fun, we want to do it and all subject areas can have an element of fun. Positive reinforcement within a structured environment is my style of classroom management and it works. If a student knows what is expected, knows the consequences, and knows it will be consistent every time, problems decerase.
