I have earned a degree in History from the University of Michigan and I have earned my teaching certificate and Master's degree from Wayne State University. I have taught high school for seven years and have taught numerous Science, Math and Social Studies courses. I have taught writing classes as well. I use a variety of teaching styles while instructing students. Alternating between styles helps to keep minds engaged and participation at a maximum. When covering content I use many examples that relate to real life, that way students can relate it to something they have experienced or seen. I also like performing small-scale experiments and labs. I will use power point presentations as well as the overhead for drawings, notes, and discussion. There are many websites that I make use of, the websites that I use are usually hands on and require students to think and solve problems on their own.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. All children were very well prepared for kindergarten. The older children, including High School and Middle School, I would walk around the room and aide them when they were confused. I also had them read the text orally taking turns and we would do the work sheet to prepare for quiz, test or new chapter. I am very patient with those who are truly in need of assistance. I have tutored in the past in phonics for those having difficulty reading and pronouncing letters.

Even though I graduated with a degree in Business Adminstration I hav always enjoys tutoring. I have been tutoring my younger neices and nephews just because I enjoy so. I have tutored grades K-12 in about almost every subject possible except band. I have written lots research papers on many different subjects.

I would also want to obtain a list of goals or expectations from the student's parents in order to implement a plan that will aid both the student and I to accomplish the targeted goal.
