A Little Bit About Me...

When working with an individual student, my teaching style is to focus upon the student and create an individualized plan for how the student learns. I first look to see what kind of learner the student is, whether he/she is a visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or any combination of these learning styles. I am then able to formulate an approach for genuine learning. The next step is to ascertain what the student difficulties are in the subject matter and where the core of the difficulties may lie. With this teaching style, I am able to the student with what could be the core of academic difficulties by teaching to his/her strongest learning style.

My teaching style is relaxed, flexible and patient. I believe that every student has what it takes to achieve his or her potential, and that my task is to find the key to unlock that potential. I am experienced in working with students with different learning styles and needs and I design an individual program to meet the needs of each student.
I have a lifelong passion for language and finding the niche to facilitate students' achievement of their objectives. I am a college writing instructor, have experience as a K-12 ESL and second language instructor, and have been self-employed as a literacy tutor for twenty-five years. In addition, I have educated all three of my children at home and have years of experience working with students of all different backgrounds and needs.
