Reading is the Key to Success!

My teaching style is flexible. I create a lesson plan that is individualized and benficial to that of the student I am tutoring. I adapt and adjust the curriculum to what is of primary importance to my student.
I have worked in the field of education as a teacher for 30 years. I have taught basic skills in foundations of Reading to middle school students. I have also taught all subject areas to elementary school children. The most memorable and most valuable experience in my career was teaching first graders how to read. It takes a trained professional to be able to lay out the framework children need to learn how to read. Poetry is one of my top subjects!

My teaching philosophy is simple, help students write to the best of their ability, give them the tools to engage in critical thinking, and challenge them to write about what they are interested in. Writing is clearly a skill that crosses majors, and is a critical skill in the workplace. A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring is very important to me. I learn as well as teach through my process. Although I believe grammar is very important, I aim to teach organizational skills within any student's writing. I have noticed that most students have more difficulty with making connections within their own writing than with grammar. Furthermore, I find an immense pleasure in successfully tutoring a student.
