As a student, I am driven to understand the nature of things. As a teacher, I work to help others understand them. From my experience, I have learned to be patient with people who are afraid of failure and to push students who are easily bored with basic work. I have earned a bachelor's degree in computer science because computers are the tool with the most potential to enable us to understand the world, second only to the mind. To this end, I encourage my students to think long and hard about the problem they want to solve before they put too much work on a false lead. I am a firm believer that everyone learns in different ways. This being the case, I like to identify a person's strengths and weaknesses so that I can create an individual plan that is tailored to the specific person. I build upon strengths while addressing weaknesses so that in the end, the student becomes a well-rounded and more effective learner.
