I love teaching others and have worked with a variety of people, who were from any level of elementary through college. My favorite part about teaching is when a student has the “Ah- ha” moment, reminding me that anyone is capable of learning a concept with practice and guidance. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a teaching assistant for six semesters at University of Hawaii at Manoa where I earned my Ph.D. in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering, and have taught a variety of writing intensive biology and microbiology labs. I’ve also had extensive tutoring experience since I was an undergraduate in biochemistry and have learned how to communicate effectively with students that are having a tough time with math. I specialize in math and science, but am also able to help with reading comprehension and all types of writing. When I was a freshman in college, I knew that my future was in my hands. I befriended and contacted my chemistry professor and zoology advisor. I worked in both of their labs, and I was only a freshman! By studying in their research groups, I gained the experience necessary to intern at Sea Life Park Hawaii. In fact, I was published in 2007 after working for Dr. Charlie Cox in the Chemistry Department. Recognizing the need for more hands-on research experience, I found another opportunity with another professor in cellular biology. In addition to conducting this research, I co-wrote the research proposal for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. This was an honor, for we were awarded funding for the project!

My teaching experience includes teaching Kindergarden and second grade in Guam, than I taught 4 years for the Department of Defense in Germany. I now live in Hawaii and have taught for the Department of Education Special Education, and English As A Second Language with Adult Eeducation. I have my own private tutoring students and teach them reading, writing, grammar, social studies, math etc. I also tutor for the home hospitalization program for the Department of Education.
Special Education classes, working with the student's IEP, one on one tutoring working with multi-sensory learning, and focusing on the student's educational goals. I believe that each child learns most effectively in a different way, which much be found to further consider a teaching style. Basically I love working with interested questioning minds. I try to inspire students to be self learners -becoming first inquisitive, and then solvers of their own inquiries.
