I have two masters degrees. I have taught music. My employment involves being the IT manager for an automobile dealership. I have dealt with just about every type of PC Problem, hardware, software, e-mail, website security, etc. I also do the bookkeeping for the enterprise. I have my own income tax service. Also, I fix PCs. As far as the creative side, I attend a writers group in which we do creative writing. I have been to over 10 colleges and pretty much understand pedagogy. Pedagogy is how they teach and how you learn. The more advanced the courses you take the less they help or guide you. You're on your own. They hand you a syllabus, and say go figure it out. I began playing piano at the age of 5. At 13 I started teaching piano in Hawaii Kai at the request of neighbors and the business has continued all these years. One of my former students is a police office now, one is a prosecuting attorney, one sailed on the Hokulea. I have great pride in feeling that my small role as a teacher helped steer them towards a successful career. We all know that music instruction helps students do better at school. Some of the most sought after surgeons in Hawaii are classically trained concert pianists. Students don't need to invest in a piano, a keyboard from Costco does just fine. I use a basic piano method (or books you may have on hand from previous lessons) and supplement the lesson with music of your choosing: show tunes, tv themes, you name it.
