The best successes come after their greatest disappointments

I like to make my tutoring sessions productive by encouraging students to work hard to complete the taste in order to receive a reward in the form of a game or something they enjoy doing. I am very thorough in correcting assignments and make sure they fully understand the concept they are working on. I am very helpful in stimulating critical thinking for creative writing assignments.
I have experience with pre k to 8th grade tutoring in Math and English tutoring to help students prepare for Iolani and Punahou entrance exams through Dr. Takahashi Juku. I have also worked extensively with children from Japan who struggle with English. I can explain English words and grammar in Japanese and well as read and write Japanese .

I am a very patient teacher and good at picking up non-verbal cues from students when they don’t understand. I like to have fun with students because I believe that learning is most effective when students are engaged and interested. However, I am very focused and insist on students paying attention and staying on task until subject mastery is achieved. I understand children very well being a mother myself. Special Education classes, working with the student's IEP, one on one tutoring working with multi-sensory learning, and focusing on the student's educational goals. I also teach whole-brain learning skills and techniques. In the classroom I use a creative approach to learning, and incorporate the entire curriculum.
My teaching experience includes teaching Kindergarden and second grade in Guam, than I taught 4 years for the Department of Defense in Germany.
