I am a retired anesthesiologist and practiced for 28 years. Before that, I was in family practice for five years. I went to the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a bachelors degree in pre-professional studies. I then went to Midwestern Medical School in Chicago and received my anesthesia training at the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry. I also studied an extra year in pediatric anesthesia as a sub-speciality. I am also a massage therapist with specialty training in lymph drainage and abhyanga. For example, are they far behind their class or just having problems grasping some concepts? I would modify my teaching style depending on the situation, but in general I identify facts that need to be memorized and concepts that need to be understood. We would work through material, in a textbook, for example. Finally the student must apply logic and related skills (algebra, for example) needed for problem solving.
