A Little Bit About Me...

I am a strong believer in mastering a topic as opposed to spitting out the correct response. I also believe in finding one’s main learning style and teaching to it, not that of the masses. The classroom environment seeks to teach the most people the most knowledge in a single shot. Tutoring should seek to teach an individual to their greatest potential. I strongly believe that identifying whether someone learns best by seeing, hearing or doing something and delivering the knowledge in that way helps them to better comprehend what they’re doing and be able to repeat it, no matter the scenario they’re presented with. That is, they don’t just learn to spit the answer out. They learn to understand and master the task itself.

I have always wanted students to really know the material being covered. This has meant keeping their interest through jovial yet concentrated lesson planning. I have always strived to make my students feel comfortable and to take on the responsibility for their own learning. Much too often Educators show students how to answer questions rather than helping the student learn how to handle new scenarios. This is the essence of my teaching: helping students see the big picture so that they can handle any new scenario. My classroom always has many things going on at once, which is a direct result of the student driven learning and presenting.
