Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. Since the year 1997, I have worked with many students in Baltimore City and Howard County School system as an aid, reading assistant, substitute teacher for many subject areas including Science, Art, Health, and (long-term) English, High Subject (for all subjects) and a Special Educator that carries with many titles and various needs including transitions, SST, 504, and committees.

Everybody learns differently at a seperate pace.

First, I examine what is needed to be helped with. Next, I sit down and ask the student what he or she seems to be struggling with and why. From there I build a lesson plan with the student and give them the tools they need to succeed. I have worked with children with ADHD and aspergers.
