I love being around and teaching kids. I am constantly around kids now. I am a single parent of a 10 year old dughter, and i am very into her school. First off i don't believe that a kid is dumb or doesn't know how to do anything. Children only know what we teach them. So if a child doesnt know how to do something it is a reflection on the teaching that he/she has had. I have never had a kids come to me and leave without learing more than they knew before they got to me. I believe in practice makes perfect, especially in math. To be great at math calls for repitition. The more you do the better you will get at it. I believe in real life examples, not in adult situations but something the child can relate to to help them better understand. A Little Bit About Me...

I spent 4 years in college teaching preschool, as well as 2 years as a high-needs reading tutor for the psych dept at my university. My degree is in journalism/English Lit and my GPA in Lit was a 3.7. I have three children of my own, and they are all avid readers, with my oldest reading 150+ books per school year. I'm well-aware of the current and classical children's literature out there, and taught both of my older children to read - at 5 and 3, respectively.
I'm very laid back and just enjoy being around children. Every child is different and has different interests and difficulties. One box does not fit all, and it's a matter of figuring out how to relate to the child at hand and make the subject matter appealing to them that I enjoy the most.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching children. For the younger children, I tend to be more hands on with projects and objects to help them learn. I also believe visual aids are very good. For middle school children learning math and English, I feel like giving them lots of practice problems and going over it together really seems to help. For students in high school it usually depends on the kid. By this age most of them have discovered if they are visual, kinetic, or auditory learners. Based on the type of learner they are , I like to adjust my teaching style.
I tutored for Mission: Mentor while I attended Georgia State Universtity for 3 years. I was awarded Mentor of the Year in 2006 at Georgia State University. When I continued my education at Augusta State University, I volunteered as a mentor at the ASU Literacy Center helping children of all ages.
