A Little Bit About Me...

As a Senior in High School I spent a semester in Mettmann, Germany. During my stay I helped my host mom, who was also the head English teacher at the school I attended. I assisted her teach 6th and 7th graders and had the opportunity to head the classes on multiple occasions. She also volunteered to teach English to elderly citizens once a week, which I also filled in for her when she had schedule conflicts. It was a terrific experience which demanded constant adaptation and patience. After finishing up 4 years of German from Ames High School, I began my studies at ISU. I took 2 or 3 German classes every semester. Classes varied from early 1900's literature to German films.
I enjoy a very hands-on approach to teaching where students remain attentive through an energetic and lively approach.

I graduated in December 2014 from Iowa State University with a Civil Engineering degree- 3.5 GPA honor student. Before Iowa State I went to the University of Iowa for two years to play basketball. Prior to that I went to Des Moines Christian High School. I am currently working in Des Moines. I have a passion for teaching and have tutoring experience in college. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. I have always been successful at teaching children to understand and believe that they can learn anything from hitting a baseball to doing algebra.
