Saxophone is one of my top subjects!

During my sophomore year I started tutoring for the mathematics department, educating my peers in a wide variety of mathematical topics. This was a very enjoyable experience in which I took pride in my ability to instruct in mathematics such as calculus and statistics. During my junior year I started tutoring computer science on the side, which my students told me I was more proficient at than the college hired tutors. My senior year I was appointed a fellowship in the mathematics department during which I was in charge of the tutoring program. I also have a lot of experience playing the saxophone, mainly classical, but also in jazz. A Little Bit About Me...

I primarily teach through activities and ideas suited to meet each individual's need. Through the interpersonal contact and motivation I provide, I feel that I help the student to desire to improve their knowledge and perform better. Depending on the student, I can be an enthusiastic or a calm teacher. By taking courses such as child psychology, I am able to understand which teaching methods and interaction styles work best for each person. I think the best method of teaching is doing practice problems and hands-on work as well as addressing problems expressed by each student.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in Nutritional Sciences. This degree required excellent science and math skills to complete. I have served as an instrumental music educator under contract for three years; I have been a substitute teacher in public schools for fifteen years. I have taught all grade levels. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers as a graduate student. I have tutuored many students primarily on musical instruments.
I love teaching and working with all children. Every child is different in their personalities. I am patient, easy going and considerate. My goal is to provide the best education possible.
