A Little Bit About Me...

I'm most interested in tutoring on the high-school or college level, but I do have experience teaching young children as well. I believe that the biggest impediment to learning a subject is anxiety, often from a bad classroom experience, so my approach focuses on beginning at the learner's level and making sure to check every concept before moving on to the next one. This works. I offer a patient, learner-focused teaching style that is able to use a broad variety of examples and experience from everyday life and my experience to illustrate points. I'm practiced in complementing a primary teacher's style to fill in gaps and get results. I have an enthusiasm for language that, I am told, is infectious.
I have Bachelor's Degrees in English & Spanish, a Master's Degree in English, and am rated 'advanced low' on the Arabic Oral Proficiency exam. My Spanish training includes 42 col ... read more
