A Little Bit About Me...

I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. I would travel and relocate for a job.
I have worn many hats and done many things that all apply to the classroom and teaching young people. I believe that education is the key to life and living. But a person has to believe they can do it first and I believe everyone can learn and should be given the opportunity

I have over 30 years of diverse accounting experience. Over this time I have been responsible for the timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns, bank reconciliations, and budgets. For the last 4 years I have been an Accredited Financial Examiner responsible for the financial examination of insurance companies for various state insurance departments.
I performed training in the accounting function for my staffs at the various insurance companies I was employed at. This enabled the staff to perform their job functions in a more efficient manner and with limited supervision.

I understand that any child can run into problems with schoolwork. I try to find out why the child is having a problem before trying to help them. Did he miss something and fall behind? Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions. I feel it is important for the learner to understand that there is a reason for making the effort to learn each subject. In math, I like to assign the numbers and equations to subjects the learner likes, such as pizza, sports or music, for example. I also find it is beneficial to make references to the different careers one might use the knowledge learned in the child's classes.
