A Little Bit About Me...

I have a total of 15 years experience speaking, reading and writing Spanish. I am very familiar with the different Spanish language variants. I lived in Chile for almost two consecutive years, and studied in Costa Rica for a short time. My B.A. is in Anthropology and Spanish, and my M.S. is in International Studies. I currently teach at a local community college. I have tutored elementary, high school and university level student with learning disabilities in Latin American history, the Spanish Language, English composition, music, Science, History, Geography, and other subject areas (and I've also taught both English and Spanish as second languages). I am also a Cub Scout Den mom.

I have a passion for people and education. I myself enjoy learning and sharing that passion with others. I love sharing my knowledge with students and encouraging them along the way. I believe that every individual has a learning style that must be discovered and utilized. Students can be visual, auditory or tactile learners, and often many students are a combination of each learning style. I like to make learning fun and I use various unique strategies with students that fit into each individual’s way of learning. I encourage students to ask questions and create a dialogue between teacher and student. I believe one of the best ways to learn through teaching, and I encourage my students to think about how they would teach the material to their peers.
