My teaching style initally involves getting to the know the person, what they are struggling with, why they think they may need a tutor, and anything they have tried in the past and what has and has not worked for them. I like to encorporate all aspects to assist with learning (visual aids, listening, and hands-on/practical). This may involve games, cartoons/movies (if tutoring Spanish), worksheeets. I also feel that goal-setting is important, and I think I would ask the tutee to set some individual/personal goals for themself, (i.e. amount of time studying or achieving certain fluency level).

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Certified Dyslexia teacher, I teach Orton-Gillingham multisensory curriculum to students with dyslexia and other reading deficits. My one on one tutoring is designed to get to the root of the problem by building and reinforcing phonemic and grapheme awareness using sight, sound and touch. Being an elementary substitute teacher and certified dyslexia teacher I continue my professional development in my areas of expertise.
My teaching style is multisensory, utilizing sight, sound and touch. I'm very patient and I love teaching children. I love watching learners understand and succeed. As an instructor, I look at each student as an individual whose learning style is unique to them, and then I adapt my instruction to best fit their style.
