Having taught high school in both affluent and underprivileged areas I strive to make sure that every student has a positive learning experience. My degree is a BS in Communication/Business with a minor in education. Language has always been my first love and I continue to take classes related to this field. The past few years I have worked in sales but I continue to tutor.

Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. In a tutoring situation there is usually the immediate need (to pass a test) and the long term need to be able to succeed on their own. I try to balance these two goals but the guidance of the parents is most critical.
