I have tutored kids at my Church whenever someone has needed help. I am very patient and understanding of how frustrating certain topics can be, so I know I am a great candidate for tutoring. I am exceptionally great with younger kids who have ADD or ADHD since I have struggled with that myself. I have over 10 years in tutoring elementary and high school students. I started tutoring in 2000 with the YMCA's after-school program. I stayed there for six years before taking a break to finish college. In summer 2009, I started tutoring with the Boys & Girls Club in Montevallo. Also in summer 2009, I started tutoring high school students from Bibb, Chilton, & Shelby counties through the Upward Bound program at the University of Montevallo. I currently help students with any homework they may have as well as with taking the ACT to get into college. I have tutored Biology, English, and Math (algebra & geometry).

I try to find out the learning style of the person I am teaching and use that as my primary teaching style. Some people learn better by hearing, some by reading or seeing and some by doing. I think focusing on the style that the person prefers to learn and then backing it up with the other styles to reinforce what they have learned is the best way for the student to retain the information. I think it is important to include all 3 styles no matter which way the person learns best because they need to be able to learn in the style their other teachers use as well.
