Many years later after serving in the military and starting a family, I went back to school to receive a teaching certificate in the state of NC, after moving to Arkansas with my family, I converted it to an Arkansas license. In 2009, I returned to school again to fulfill a dream of completing a Master's degree. I have been working as a substitute teacher for 5 years and I have been tutoring for 2 years. First and foremost, I understand that no two children learn the same. I believe many children struggle in a learning environment simply because they are not comfortable with it. I excel at personal communication, and make it my first goal to find out how the student is going to learn the best. Whether it requires dancing, music, pictures, whatever it takes, once a student is comfortable they are far more likely to absorb information. This holds true for any age. I want the student to understand that they are capable of learning anything, they just may not have had the right opportunity to yet.
