A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been a tutor of almost every class I took in high school, college, and even graduate school. I was always acting as a teacher figure to my friends, and my peers. I usually tutor Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. After I earned my BS in Chemistry, I totored K-12, and taught ESL to foreign students at South Florida Community College. More info will follow later.
To make my teaching more effective, I usually psyche my student to see how the mood to learn is. Should the mood be down at first, I would just come up with something fun, educative, something that can help to boost someone's IQ score. I have also used the NCLB Method, No Child Left Behind Method. In it, we use examples for every question, and evaluate the students every week to enhance greater learning.

Education is of utmost importance to me, and I believe that all children can learn, but some lack the study skills necessary to succeed in school. While in pursuit of my psychology major at Converse College, I attended various classes and seminars on learning styles. I feel that each child has its own potential, and if we as educators can empower students to feel as though they can succeed, great things happen.
During my undergraduate studies, I was selected the Departmental Tutor for French language by the Converse College Foreign Language Department. I also taught an entry-level French "drill" class for four years throughout my undergraduate experience. For three years after my graduation from college, I worked with at-risk youth as a wilderness instructor, and also a behavior modification specialist. The most important things in achieving academic success are the establishment of goals and discipline in achieving those goals. I help students to become involved in their own educational experiences by exploring different teaching and learning methods that best fit the student's needs and personality, creating their own goals over a period of time so that they can keep track of their own progress and by providing students with patience and encouragement so that they remain focused in achieving their own personal goals. I also push students to think outside of the box and challenge themselves rather than limiting themselves only to standards of their age or grade- appropriate level.
I have acquired a wide range of skills through my experiences in teaching and tutoring. For four years I worked with a dyslexic child to improve his reading skills. I used a variety of approaches in ... read more

My objective as a teacher is to not only impart knowledge, but also make the students understand the concepts of the subject. Based on my experience,it is my belief that students can accomplish more than they believe they can. My task is to encourage them to take the intellectual risks that are fundamental for their success. In order to accomplish this, I try to empower students as much as possible by making them active participants in their own education. I hope to foster critical thinking, facilitate the acquisition of life-long learning skills, and prepare students to function effectively to develop problem-solving strategy. Generally, I believe the role of a teacher is to be a facilitator, teachers should enable students to become responsible for their own learning. I do recognize that students learn in different ways and are committed to the learning process.
