College Undergrad Looking to Tutor English Students

Not only was English my favorite subject as well as the one I was most proficient in in high school, it eventually became my major in college. I majored in Journalism at The University of New Hampshire, and while I have not yet received my Bachelor's of Arts from the institution I am a mere handful of credits away from earning it (9, to be exact), an accomplishment I am attempting to achieve by transferring credits over from The Community College of Rhode Island. While attending UNH, I wrote for the school's newspaper, The New Hampshire, edited my fellow writer's work, and eventually went on to intern and temporarily work for our local Valley Breeze.
While I have never conducted a formal tutoring session, I have edited the work of my peers and more recently assisted my girlfriend's younger sister with the completion of her college essay. From my experience, I have found that I p ... read more

I have just completed a Master's Program in the Arts of Teaching at Sacred Heart University. I completed 10 weeks of student teaching where I took on all the responsibilities of a full time 7th grade English teacher. Throughout all of high school and college I worked with children ages 3-15 and taught them how to swim in a Massachusetts accredited program in my hometown. I have also worked with many teens and would be happy to tutor those who are older and looking for some extra help. My unique contribution is that, in addition to sharing knowledge and study skills, I am trained to help children regulate difficult emotions like frustration or hopelessness or embarrassment, overcome fears and anxieties, find and maintain motivation, improve self-esteem, and use creative problem solving to maxi ... read more
