My teaching style is a combination of the Demonstrator Model and the Facilatative Model. I start with establishing a logical prototype for how to think and approach problems, then I oversee, guide and direct by showing how to do things. Once the student has a basis of understanding, (s)he is encouraged to emulate my approach. I then move into the facilitative style and focus on guiding and directing by asking questions, exploring options, suggesting alternatives and encouraging growth and development of criteria to make informed choices. As a student who has dabbled in so many areas, it is easy for me to assess when a teacher/professor is not explaining a concept in a method that helps the students. I have previous experience tutoring, but my teaching talent comes from my role as the unofficial tutor for most of my classes. I can see why students are missing the concept and I am creative enough to devise new approaches.
I am a successful graduate of Susquehanna University, having earned a BA in International Studies. This study of cultural anthropology allowed me ample experience with writing, grammar, and research.
