A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education, I have gained knowledge in the practice of teaching elementary school. I have been able to observe classrooms as well as student teach. I was able to put my knowledge to use while I student taught by planning all lessons, implementing fun and relevant activities as well as integrating subjects. I am more knowledgeable in reference to teaching elementary students and implementing useful plans to not only teach them the needed information, but to make it fun and in a way that all students would be able to learn.
I believe that all children can learn and all children are capable of learning. When I approach a student I've never worked with, my first priority is to make them feel comfortable by letting them see that I am a very nice, friendly, and compassionate person that they might like to have as a friend. Next I try to get them to tell me about themselves in some way (what they've been working on, their favorite subjects) to try to encourage them to speak freely with me about what they're thinking. Then, after personal rapport is established, I begin my academic approach to tutoring by finding out how they think based on their interests or common themes, and I try to connect the material to these things.
