A Little Bit About Me...

I would describe my teaching style as learning by doing and not learning by lecture. I like the structure and logic of Math. I have always enjoyed helping students grasp concepts that can be utilized in the sciences.
I have taught math for thirty five (35) years at Lexington high school. I taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, enriched (honors) Algebra 2, Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Pre calculus and Senor Math (Trig and Analytical Geometry) and Geometry. I also was also a visiting instructor at a branch of Ohio State for two years teaching Transitions to Math (review of Algebra for college students) I coached football for 35 years and track for 33 years at the high school and junior high level. Because I enjoy the learning environment and have been in one for 16 years, I have learned much about it. Everyone learns differently, and I feel that it is important to understand the student's easiest way to learn in order to proceed. A Little Bit About Me...

While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center. After graduating, I started working for the Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures division. It was my job to try to "trick" the scales before they could become available for commercial use. I moved back home to Coshocton when I got married. I quickly found a job teaching adults within our county's GED program. I easily became the math and science "guru" with my background and began getting my Masters in Education from Muskingum University. Now I train other adult education directors around the state how to improve their own adult education programs. I have spent the past three years focusing on the instruction of math and language.

There is a way to reach every child. It is my responsibility to figure out how an individual child learns best, and then use it to show him learing is fun! I enjoy challenging a child to think - to think more creativly, tieing together concepts to gain understanding.
