Taking the fear out of testing, one session at a time

Currently I am tutoring Biology (among other sciences) as well as English at Pueblo Community College. I have been there for close to a half of a year at this point. I also have a 15 year old son who is in the IB program at Palmer. He does very well in school, I like to attribute that partially to my skills. Learning is a journey. I have a map but you have the wheels

I believe the best way to learn is to ask questions. The best thought process begins with asking the right questions. As a student, I find that knowing the right question was often as important as right answer. Taking this lesson into teaching, I find that getting the student to ask the right question makes all the difference in their understanding. As a substitute teacher, I try to engage the interest of all the students by greeting them by name initially as I welcome them to their classroom. Easing the tension when someone messes up by asmitting that everyone blows it at some point is always a hit.
