I'm currently a student in school who has had a wide range of experience in various different subjects, specifically working best with mathematics, science and language arts in the elementary and middle school level. I'm familiar with I've been doing my best to educate myself in as best as I can, not simply for the sole purpose of filling a resume, but for the sake of learning.
When I teach, I try my best to be open minded, and to give choices to the student, rather than follow a closed-box cookie cutter curriculum. I've found it's important to find a personal way of learning for a specific student. Variety is important, because every child learns a little differently. Some kids learn by listening, others by seeing. Some kids learn only when they're making things. Encouragement and recognition when progress is attained by the student is a great incentive.

My comments on tutoring Writing : I have a BLA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington and a BA in Art. I believe my abilities to listen, comprehend, and produce sensitive design directly translate to writing. To write well, one must be consistently aware of the objective and searching for creative ways to express thoughts and opinions.

I spent thirteen years in college, and participated in many study groups. Every group has a person who leads, I have generally taken that role. I have also chosen professions where working in groups is the norm. I enjoy active problem solving, looking at all potential solutions, and digging for the best. I have just begun working as a tutor and have one middle school student whom I am helping with English and Social Studies. Both of my high school aged daughters take French and I regularly help them and one of their classmates with language homework, as well as with history, language arts, and writing. The study of language requires lots of grammar practice. I have gained a better understanding of English grammar as a result of my experience leaning French.
