Highly Experienced Teacher/Director looking to help students

My experience entails a well rounded experience of teaching students from preK to adult. My most important position was acting as Director of Education for Sylvan Learning, where I basically ran the learning center. I supervised teachers and all student programs, conferred with parents from the beginning to the end of their experience with Sylvan, and did so much more to develop a positive experience with all clients and teachers involved. I have taught Elementary Level, High School Level, and substitute taught in Middle School Level. I worked for a company called SmartApple, where we graded statewide standardized testing. My specialty was in marking the writing portion. I have so much more experience, and I love helping students to succeed at any age. Please contact me for further information on how my qualifications can match your needs.

My comments on tutoring Reading : I teach reading (communication skills) as a College Professor and I have written articles, such as "An Introduction to Computer Literacy", for reading textbooks. I have helped many students to learn to read faster and with more comprehension. I am patient and understanding.

In my experience, the majority of students are highly motivated. This is, for me, the key to success. However, very often, students require assistance with a wide range of ‘remediation’ in many of life’s basic competencies: a skill set that includes such issues as time management, test taking, study habits, and, sometimes, acculturation. My teaching methodology follows these simple steps: Step 1: Motivation Step 2: Definition & Understanding of terms Step 3: Explanation, exploration, discussion, debate Step 4: Questions & Answers Step 5: Practice: Time & Effort Step 6: Demonstration (or proof) I absolutely believe that motivation is required for learning. I have found that students become more motivated to learn when they understand how they will profit from the experience. I teach ‘communication’ all the time, regardless of the subject matter. I combine a variety of teaching styles to accommodate student's learning style. When it comes to GED instruction, I would say that math is my strong suit. I always try to find examples of how certain skills could be applied to real life experiences.
I have experience working with students from Kindergarten through adult education. My earliest teaching experience was with primary grade children (K-2) in an inner-city school district. I taught basic skills to incarcerated men in a NJ Correctional Facility. I have experience working with first generation college students in need of remedial coursework before advancing to college level courses. A Little Bit About Me...

Writing, reading, and english have always been my passions. I don't have any formal training within the english tutoring or teaching worlds; however, I have always been a "go-to" for friends and classmates whenever they had questions or concerns about their assignments. Next fall I will be heading back to school in order to obtain my teaching credentials, and in the meantime, I thought that I would use my talents to help others.

I love learning to be a student and to teach.

My style is more formal with the beginning students who need a lot of structure and have to do repetitive exercises to beging the process of learning English as a second language. Overall, as the students advance in their knowledge I have them leave the classroom and interview teachers or other people and then they are videotaped and they can write their own material. So the teaching style is more fluid then at the beginning.
I have taught in both high school the last 7 years and college for 2 years teaching reading and writing. I have taught English in the summers 2007-2010 to International Students. I have taught reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary. I have done prep for the HSPA prior to the test. All the students do three projects and with mp4 movies have been tape recorded and uploaded to my blog. I give them the url http://daylightblogs.org/esltech and mrwhale ... read more

I am a college student who pursues a plethora of creative pursuits with much passion. I am finishing up my bachelor's in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, and will soon be marketing myself as a freelancing designer for the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Before college, I taught myself the entire Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and how to build websites. This has always been in the direction that I have been interested, and I want to give that passion and knowledge to those who see themselves going in a similar direction.
No student is built the same way. As a tutor, I mold my style to the needs of my students.

Learning Improves with Positive Reinforcement.

I am patient, thoughtful and I believe in POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. When I was younger I struggled with a learning disability. I overcame the disability to earn several degrees with honors. I am looking to help students who are willing to put in the time and effort to improve.
I have my BS in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College, with a minor in English. In 2010 I earned my Masters Degree from Drexel University in Library and Information Science. I completed several graduate level courses on youth instruction. In addition, I have mentored children and adults with ADD. At the age of 19 I was diagnosed with ADD and went through an intensive learning disability program consisting of various types of learning and processing. I would like to help children conquer the disability before they pick up bad study habits and poor self-esteem.
