I prefer a one on one or a classroom style envionment. One on one training allows me to focus on the student and understand the areas that he or she may be having difficulty with which allows me to tailor my curriculum to the student's needs. I believe in hands on work by the student such that he or she can demonstrate back to me that the concepts have been understood.
I have 20 years of Finance, Information Systems and Engineering experience. As a person that put himself through college, both undergrad and grad school and then taught at a local Community College, I bring a unique perspective on the value that education can bring to a person's life. My focus is to stimulate the desire and passion to learn which exists in all students. I firmly believe teaching requires structure. In that regard, the learning process requires a sequences of steps. Firstly, the student must understand the problem to be solved or the skill to be acquired. Secondly, examples are required to show how to approach and solve a prolem. Lastly, overarching concepts can be introduced to unitfy that which is new with that which is already understood. This approach has succesfully trained and kept the interest of all individuals that I have mentored.
