Biology is one of my top subjects!

I'm a recent graduate from Brown University, with experience tutoring at the middle school, high school, and college levels. Math and Biology are my favorite things to teach--I love the subject matter and I love to see it "click" with students. In math, I received an 800 score on the SAT, and a score of 5 on each the Calculus AB and BC exams. I also tutored algebra as a high school student. I tutored math, Biology and Chemistry during undergrad and med school and helped friends with the grammar for their research papers. I'm weary of dealing with managed care and am currently a little over than a year away from getting my Masters in Education.
I believe all children want to learn. Sometimes it takes some work to find the spark that ignites the learning process. Unfortunately, a larger classroom may not be the best environment to find that spark in some kids. I've been successful with both children and adults because I have a knack for finding out what motivates them. In the classroom I rely on traditional lecture, supplemented by Powerpoint presentations, animations, and lists and diagrams on the white board. I usually assign a research paper. In the last few semesters I've implemented through Blackboard some online testing, as well as tutorial "homework" quizzes, where the students get feedback directing them to coverage of particular sections of the text.
