My comments on tutoring Sociology : It is my college minor.

Hands-on and talk-through methods. I am open to other styles.
I was a ABA therapist for a company around the Fort Campbell, Ky area for over a year. I worked with special needs children, emphasis on autism. I volunteered at a Fort Campbell school and also worked as a substitute teacher. I was TriCare approved at my last job. I am currently attending college to receive my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have less than one year to graduate. I have been working with school systems on special education for about three years.

I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek ... read more

For over four years, I have been involved in private tutoring as well as teaching classes available to the public. I have a passion for teaching and enjoy helping others succeed. While completing my Bachelors in Business Administration, I developed a firm understanding and passion for economics, finance, and accounting. My work experience, in banking and in organizational management, has provided me with opportunity to apply this knowledge in real life situations.
I enjoy teaching and working with children and adults. My first experience in education was with children's music classes, and have since enjoyed the opportunity to teach adults at the community college level. I would describe my style as adaptive. In my experience every child and adult requires somewhat of a different approach. After careful evaluation, a course is developed to meet the students needs. With that ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.
I have recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. During college, I taught/tutored 7th graders at a local middle school in the areas of math and s ... read more

My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. Teaching should be done in a multisensory method to appeal to students' senses and to help them succeed as best as they can. Each student is an individual and should be treated with respect. The learning environment that teachers provide should be nurturing, structured, and interesting to allow for students to reach their full potentials. While every student may have some weaknesses, concentrating on a student's strengths is important to help them enjoy school and find success.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have enjoyed tutoring over the last year. I believe that when the learning style of a child is found, that child can learn anything! I myself have always been more of a visual learner. As a tutor one must understand that every child is different and unique in their own learning abilities. A tutor should always brainstorm and find new ways to help a child learn and have fun learning.
Through earning my BA in psychology I have gained a finer understanding in people and cognitive development umong other things. In my college career I focused much on psychological disorders of children and how to help children. I have acquired excellent writing and research skills because of my educational background. I enjoy a challenging situation that enables me to focus and solve a problem. Over the last year I tutored a ten year old girl with ADHD in fifth grade on reading comprehension, writing ... read more

I enjoy working with children and helping them to succeed in all that they do. I try to include all the children in what I am teaching. I tend to teach through example and use hands-on experience for the students to gain the knowledge that they need. My goal in education is to inspire the students to set high yet reachable goals. They need to know that someone will be behind them the entire way.
As a recent graduate from East Carolina University, I have obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Throughout the extensive coursework, I became an excellent source of information, whether it pertained to science, math, or English. I have written numerous laboratory reports, as well as many papers. I have helped other students in their quest for higher knowledge by giving them advice as well as helping them in what they are having trouble with. I have always been interested in teaching. I have taught for a couple of months as a full-time teacher in Franklin County's Middle School. I have been doing part-time voluntary tutoring for the last three years teaching math, physics, chemistry, computers, and foreign language. I also participate in National Engineer's Week conducted by IBM in which engineers go to different middle and high schools and teach kids about the latest technology fields in engineering, and the importance of gaining a higher level of education.
I love to teach and I get excited when I help a student whose performance was bad before I started teaching him/her but significantly improved after I started teaching them. It is very enjoyable for me and currently I just do it voluntarily for part-time. However, the best thing I like about teaching is that you are shaping the future of young children and helpin ... read more

I believe all children can do well at school if they are taught correctly. Every child learns differently and it is the job of the teacher to find the style that works for the student. Some students use verbal cues to learn while others visual, hands on or a variety of other approaches. The better we teach the children today the b ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned two bachelor degrees from the University of North Carolina in December of 2007. From there, I chose to move to Massachusetts to participate in a ground breaking fellowship at MATCH Charter Public High School. I chose this alternate route to receiving teaching certification because of the classroom experience it provided me. In addition to earning certification and completing student teaching hours, I tutored for 20-30 hours a week in all subject areas in grades 9, 10, and 11. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading, writing, history, and biology.
I am a passionate teacher and tutor. I believe that there is not a minute to waste when working with youth, and I like to conduct vigorous tutorials and well-paced classes. I believe that everyone has a different learning style, and this is why tutoring is such an integral supplement to classroom teaching. I enjoy getting to kno ... read more

While obtaining my Master's degree in Accounting, I worked as a Professor's Assistant which involved substitute teaching, research, and grading exams and homework. I have a natural ability in working with young people as well as exceptional communication, organization, presentation and people skills. As a Team Lead at IBM, I had many opportunities to train and teach others on computer systems, processes, policies and procedures, and many other issues. I have also volunteered as a mentor through IBM's Mentor Place program in the past and currently with Wake County Public Schools.
I am very passionate about teaching and working with young people. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Physical Education and Health Education teacher, I have come to appreciate that all children operate in various ways. Some pick up on material sooner than others, while there are still those who are in need of support. In my tutoring experience, which has been a very positive experience, I have created various learning tools so that my students may achieve their maximum potential. Prior to settling into a Phys. Ed. career, I was also an English major who happens to have a deep appreciation for the written word in composition form. I have also, as a tutor, had access to several different subjects in which I have become proficient. Some of these include math, English, history, and the sciences.
As an educator, I am not primarily concerned with what skill level one may be at at one particular time or another. What concerns me most is the student's willingness to try and I f ... read more
