I currently hold no experience with tutoring, but I am an Elementary Education major still pursuing my degree and would love to start teaching. I am a patient person, and I would prefer to work with children on Elementary subjects because it is specific to my major. Although I have no current experience with tutoring, I believe I have the ability to help you with whatever you may need.

My comments on tutoring Literature : Have a good knowledge of American & World Literature as well as. I have completed 7 courses in this subject matter

I believe that a student should have the time to figure things out on their own, but with guidance from their tutor or teacher. I think I should provide a student with all the tools they need, and then through example I will teach a student to figure things out for themselves. There is no other way that I know of to quickly build the confidence of a student and the belief in one's self, than to teach a student how to figure out problems on their own. It is a very uplifting and life changing experience for a student to finally have confidence in self. My role is to encourage, guide, and correct when they may be going in the wrong direction while learning.
Most all of my experience in life has been in business, Corporate America. However, I have always been a teacher at heart. I spent several years as a student tutor while I was attending college, both in the classroom and during my ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While an undergraduate at Colorado State, I taught various levels of chemistry laboratories for 4 semesters, which included both teaching credits and paid work. I spent one year as a graduate student at the University of Michigan in which I taught general chemistry recitation and a laboratory section. I also was involved in a class that was designed to educate future professors on the field. I spent one semester tutoring various math levels at the Community College of Denver. I believe that I have learned proper use of the English language through authoring a journal article and writing my master's thesis.
My teaching style has evolved throughout the years, especially depending on the type of student, but has always included plenty of preparation and making sure I know how to work through each question properly in order to explain from more than one angle how to answer. I believe t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Having taught in several community colleges, from 1981 to 2000, I have interacted with the young, middle aged, and elderly, having taught and learned from the single, the married, the multi-marrieds, of varied backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities, of different race, pigmentation, nationality, gender, creed, and religion. I consider myself as both teacher and student. I have come to realize that in life, each of us, no matter how highly educated, will ever remain an undergraduate in the university of life.I look at teaching as an opportunity for me to become even more proficient and knowledgeable in my field of expertise even as I teach my students to live up to their potential in my classroom.
In class, I prefer a relaxed atmosphere, with emphasis on each student as a person, not inferior to the teacher, just not as yet knowledgeable enough to teach the subject at hand. ... read more

I have learned that teaching is the activity of educating or instructing. It is the process of imparting knowledge or skill. It's about not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. Teaching is about caring for your craft, having a passion for it, and conveying that passion to everyone, most importantly to your students. A teacher is a person, who educates others. A Good teacher will listen, question, is responsive and remembers that each student and each class is different.
As a graduate and substituting, I am driven to become a proud member of the Masters program in Education. I have extensive experience on school improvement committees and after-school activities/programs. I have years of experience teaching grades K-12. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to see the glimmer in students' eyes when they understand information and make the necessary connections. My first priority is to encourage students in obtaining the self-confidence for mastery. I believe that all some students need is a few successes to make a drastic difference in their performance. I teach students to view information in a new light, with new understandings, that is comfortable for them and that they can recall. I am patient, considerate, and challenging. I do not settle for anything less than the student's best and will allow them time to develop it.
As a college graduate with two degrees in business and working on a graduate business degree, I have found myself useful to many students at the college and high school levels. I graduated from a private college in Jackson, Ms.where I majored in English . I have four children of my own. For the last 10 years, I worked as a Subsitute Teacher and as a Reading Tutor while my children were in school.I taught low income poverty first grade students with reading disabilities for one year. I also minored in German and has taught beginning German to students as well as my own children.
I absolutely love teaching. I love the feeling I get when teaching and that one child that has had trouble finally gets that ah-ha moment, where everything clicks. It's amazing to see that glow and excitement in their face. Every child deserves a chance. It is hard to give one on one teaching while in a classroom but through tutoring each child can have that and learn by hands on experience. I want my students to know that there is someone out there that does see and believe that ... read more

I love working with children. I have taught Sunday School classes at various age levels. I believe that each child is different and learns in his/her own way on his/her own time-table; therefore, I work with each child differently depending on their needs. I try to teach in a way that the child can understand and grasp the concepts of grammar, writing, and reading.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in English from Troy University Dothan in December 2009. Since I opted for a Bachelor's in English rather than a Bachelor's in Secondary English Education, I took more writing and literature classes. In all of my English Literature classes, I had numerous writing assignments that helped me learn how to write. I also took writing and grammar classes which helped improve my writing skills tremendously. I tutored when I was in Jr. High School. The student I tutored was learning how to read. I ... read more

I am a lover of learning. My love for learning has certainly attributed to my working my way through a Masters of Arts in Teaching. My enthusiasm for helping others to learn has been most heightened; however, through my experience working with students. I have worked in multiple roles at the elementary school level through collegiate level. Every position I have worked in I have loved because of the students. Each person has their own learning needs and own challenges. I love being a part of working through those challenges and finding understanding and success.
I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encour ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While at Purdue, I studied English literature and writing (academic and creative). I began college studying English education. This gave me experience in the classroom at the observation level. I pursued courses exploring classroom techniques, dynamics, and the incorporation of technology. My minor in Communication introduced me to Associated Press style and improved my copy editing skills. My second minor in Art fostered my ability to approach problems creatively. While I eventually switched my major to English, I have always loved teaching. In high school, I was given the unique opportunity to go into an elementary classroom on a daily basis and tutor students in reading through STRIVE (Students and Teachers Reaching in Volunteer Efforts). In college, I edited my peers' papers. Also during college, I babysat for two boys and helped them with their Kumon (an after-school prog ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly believe all children can learn. I am very student-centered as I know that each child learns in different ways. I have a minor in Psychology which I use to help me understand the psyche of the child. Behavior is a very important aspect in learning and I employ Positive Behavioral Supports and an individual approach to every child. I am a strong believer in using real-life problems, manipulatives, and engaging activities that use all the senses.
As a graduate from a rigorous teacher training program at USF, I learned many skills and techniques to to teach students of all ability levels and ages. I had many opportunities throughout my college career to practice and experience teaching students from large groups to one-on-one settings. I was a recipient of the Michelin Scholarship Grant which allowed me to go to local Title 1 Middle Schools and tutor at-risk students. I was a ... read more

Teaching has always been a passion of mine and I thoroughly enjoy helping students to realize their full potential. I believe that all students are capable of achieving academic success so long as the teacher provides a means through which students can make personal connections with the material. I believe providing opportunities for choice encourages exploration of academic sources in even the most hesitant of students because their unique perspectives are being met and acknowledged. I am patient, knowledgeable, creative, and most importantly, dedicated to the academic success of your child.
