My teaching style adapts to the students current level of knowledge. I always model 2 or 3 problems step by step before asking the student to try a problem. A student is comfortable knowing that I have "their backs" and won't let them be frustrated for long. This gives a student confidence to try problems on their own.

I am currently a college sophomore at Florida Institute of Technology studying Computer Engineering so I know the problems a high school or school or college student would face in studies. Therefore, I will be able to communicate with m y students better and help them excel in studies and eliminate their weak points in any subject. I have no teaching style since I believe that to succeed one needs to seriously study and teach and cover your weakest subjects first.

I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.
I never give up on a child or an adult. I recently tutored a law enforcement official to help him understand and pass algebra. He didn't think anyone could help him. The schools told me my son would never learn to read or write. He is my only child out of four who reads lengthy books for pleasure. Everyone has a different style of learning. At college I worked as a tutor for two years in the areas of chemistry and mathematics. I earned BA's in chemistry and biochemistry and have some laboratory experience. Having been educated at a liberal arts school has also given me the opportunity to study philosophy and sociology. I also write well, as writing is emphasized in all disciplines of study at Knox. Previous to my college education, I was also active in my tutoring program in high school.
The most important part of teaching is to teach students the principle or concept behind a subject. I do not believe in making students memorize absurdly large lists of facts in order to pass a test. Learning should be more fundamental than that. When a student has been successfully taught something, the student should be able to solve an array of problems with a common theme.

I have always had a passion for math and for helping others. While I was in college I was a math tutor for students struggling in remedial math (subject before college algebra) for a whole year.
