My comments on tutoring Political Science : One of the few classes I wish I could retake in college.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. I believe that anyone can learn anything as long as they're willing to learn and put an effort to do so. Learning Can be Fun!

I like to allow the student to read the material once and clarity any areas that need more explanation. Then I will allow them to answer questions from the material read and help them where needed to choose the correct answer and understand the reason for the answers. I like to reward a certain level of correct answers with points that can be redeemed for interesting small prizes. I also consider myself very patient and interested in the student having a strong foundation for future learning.

15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have been tutoring for over 15 years both in students homes or at public locations such as coffee shops or the public library. My education and experience are broad. I was educated at "Ivy League" level schools and purposefully educated myself in a large variety of the humanities, which in essence all tie together. Basic courses up through most High School material outside of the Humanities are not difficult. While earning my degree in physics at the University of Central Florida I found that tutoring was an excellent experience for both my students and me. As an undergraduate I attended Elon University in North Carolina. During my tenure there I tutored at the local elementary school as well as with the Boys and Girls Club. Writing has been a very important part of my life since I was little. My father is an author with over 20 young adult books published and he instilled in me the passion to read and write from a young age. I still edit his books to this day.
The reason I am involved in education is because I love the process of learning.
