Before I was a teacher, I was a one on one teacher associate with special needs children for six years. I have been teaching 8th grade special for almost three years. I am currently the program counselor for a Federal Grant through the Department of Education. My role as counselor is centered on individuals with various skills and abilities who are working to gain basic community and employment related skills. I graduated with a B.S. degree in early childhood education from Iowa State University in 2004. As a result, I have had the chance to substitute teach and tutor in Iowa and California. A Little Bit About Me...

While I earned my bachelor's degree in communication from Loyola, I also worked as an Academic coach for high school students. I spent a year tutoring students for an academic competition that tested all skill areas including, writing, math, history and science. I spent the summer of 2006 working closely with people with disabilities. I perfected my teaching skills through hands-on learning/teaching techniques.
I believe in setting goals and working to ensure they are accomplished. In my opinion, learning should never feel like a boring chore.
