A Little Bit About Me...

Since my graduation from Southeaster Oklahoma State University I substituted on all grade levels from pre-k to 12th grade for 2 years. I long-term substituted first grade from January to May of 2008 and 5th grade from April to May of 2007. I also taught 5th grade Science for the school year of 2008-2009. Substituting has enabled me to see the different learning styles and behaviors of many different types of children. I use this knowledge whenever stepping into unfamiliar classes and use it to my advantage.
I believe all children have their own pace and develop their own learning styles in which they are able to comprehend the knowledge that is being taught to them. A Little Bit About Me...

During the attainment of my undergraduate degree, I conducted research under my professor, Dr. Greg Powell. Throughout the research, I gathered many skills one being creative in learning, as well as, presenting new material and teaching it to fellow peers and professors. I have also worked as a teacher’s assistant, running a chemistry lab of about - five students.
I enjoy a very interactive learning approach. I tend to use hands on and visual learning techniques. I am patient and children are my joy to work with. It does not matter how long it takes one to learn, everyone is capable. I desire to set up a fun and disciplined learning environment for the students best success.

More About This Tutor...

I have five children of my own and spend many hours helping them with school work. I have found that patience and repetition in many cases are very good paths to success. I do not believe in becoming frustrated with children that do not understand as it only raises their frustration level as well. I also think that using real world examples while teaching is key to helping them understand. I am able to bring these examples to the table having many years of experience working outside of a teaching environment with real projects.
I have a few years experience teaching in the Air Force. I also have an extensive background in engineering, statistics and math in general.
