After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I have twenty-one graduate hours in Reading and eleven graduate hours in Early Childhood Education. My previous work experience had me working with families where one adult was in need of a GED. I have tutored students from elementary through high school in every subject (except Foreign Languages) for over ten years. I have also worked with entering BOCES LPN students on math review and raised many of their entry level grades twenty points. A Little Bit About Me...

I am qualified to tutor writing, basic computer, reading, basic math, learning, biology, organic chemistry, genetics, geography, and various exams, all from college-level experiences. I had a scientific book in Barnes and Noble, ample graduate-level coursework in Education, experience as a High School teacher, and lived abroad. I have a B.S. in plant biotech from Cornell.
I enjoy earnest and humble students, learning with and from them. I feel uncomfortable not learning laterally as well as vertically, seeing that to be knowledgeable, one must not just memorize but ruminate on what was memorized, making as many lateral connections as expedient. During my junior year of undergraduate work, I was contacted by a professor and asked to become an English tutor intern for my fellow students and visiting exchange students from Aichi, Japan. I was told that this hands-on tutoring would also coincide with an upper level English class, a class in which permission of its instructor, the English department and recommendations from other professors were all required.
