I prefer to use materials that students have been given in their classroom (textbooks, homework, study guides, notes) and provide additional explanation and examples. I always ask students which areas they would like to go over most importantly. I ask them to try an example problem with me, and then one without me until they feel confident in their ability to solve that type of math problem and its concepts.

My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : I can help students with subjects such as using sine cosine and tangent, graphing trigonometric functions, the unit circle and reference angles, and trigonometric identities.

I have experience working with students who are advanced and seeking supplementary tutoring as well as with students who are having difficulty with a subject. I have tutored mathematics as well as chemistry, biology, physics, and other subjects. I have tutored students from a range of ages and I worked with my first student over four years ago while I was in college.
I try to work with students to find connections between different aspects of the material that we're working on as well as to find connections to other subjects. I find that by relating specific topics to broader perspectives on a subject as well as related subjects, the student can gain a greater appreciation for the coherence and importance of a particular subject area.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate from a liberal arts college which has allowed me the opportunity to be immersed in a variety of subjects. I graduated with a BA in Honors Mathematics and a BA in Physics and am going to continue my education to pursue a PhD in Computational and Systems Biology. These experiences have allowed me to gain expertise in the areas of math and the sciences. Besides that I have been involved in several research projects and have had my work published. I believe that everybody can learn and comprehend math. Math is an intimidating subject for most people, so my goal as a teacher is to show my students that it is more like a puzzle. With all puzzles, you just need to know the steps to solving it in order to be successful, and my job is to teach these steps.
