I believe strongly in teaching students the rules to understanding the lessons being taught,"first",and I love to demonstrate examples on a chalk board. Also, I remind students that there's no such thing as asking a "bad question", so if you don"t understand what's being taught..please ask questions.
I have tutored 80+adult males students five days a week for over seven years, providing them counsel and life skills. Please feel free to call Mrs. Amy Adams,my educational supervisor, at Terre Haute,IN. I was a very successful tutor at FCI Terre-Haute from 2005 to 2012. I love to teach a large or small group, knowing the importance of mastering one lesson at a time before you move to the next.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a third year college student at Grand Valley State University. I have taken most of the major sciences such as chemistry, physiology and anatomy or micro and genetics. I test out algebra so I didnt have to take college algebra. I took all math classes in high school up to pre- cal. although I have not taken any math classes in college but I am confident that I will be able to help someone out because I tutor my cousin and sister all the time. My sister is a junior in high school and my cousin is a fifth grader.
I prefer going over notes first and then answering questions afterward, working through problems depends on students' needs.

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : As an engineering student, I have used advanced algebra (correctly) every day for the past four years and throughout high school. Algebra is extremely useful and enjoyable once mastered.

From my experience as a math student, I have seen that the best approach to teaching math is to make it highly step-by-step. My teaching style is highly logical, making sure the student understands the process for themselves. I can teach using words or pictures and adjust the pace according to the ability of the student.
My experience as a tutor began with my younger sister. When she was a sophomore, then later a junior, I taught her Algebra 2 and, later, Functions Statistics and Trigonometry. She passed both classes, remaining on the honor roll. My next tutoring experience was in tutoring my fifth-grade cousin. At the end of two months, he won the math award at his school. Since then, I have tutored students in College Algebra, High School Algebra, Basic Math, and Junior High Algebra. I have enjoyed this experience immensely and have seen positive results.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love the one on one interaction a tutor has with the students. I believe all children have a unique style of learning and we need to help them find their own way of learning. For example some kids are visual learners, while others are hearing learners. My work as a tutor is to see which method is the best for them. I am very patience with my students. Some students just need a little bit of guidance to help raise their self esteem and I am sure with our help they are going to be well prepared for college.

I believe everyone has the tools to succeed. The ability to recognize strengths and weaknesses, and to adjust accordingly, is what it takes to succeed. Everyone is an individual, and as such, everyone has unique learning techniques. I believe encouraging the natural curiosity the student is the best way to foster a learning environment. I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts. Till this day they know fracti ... read more
