I have extensive experience in all areas of corporate accounting and financial and cost analysis as a management consultant and line manager. While earning my masters, I began teaching as an avocation, and found that I thoroughly enjoyed the didactic experience. Subsequently, I taught at the community, technical, and junior college levels, as well as the university level. I can really relate to the challenged student, as I was a late bloomer. I am effective in bringing my "real world" experience to the classroom and to the individual student.
I search for the light bulb that hasn't yet gone off in my students. Rote memorization by my students just to get a grade doesn't satisfy me, although that happens with some. I taught 8th through 10th grade at a Christian School in Ludowici. I taught every subject, but never a math course higher then Algebra 1.
I am a firm believer that the best way to learn varies from subject to subject. When I taught math my view was that the best way to teach was to break everything down into a step by step process and have the students memorize the process. Most other subjects can be learned through repitition, but math requires everything to be broken down.
