I like to establish a solid foundation in sight reading, music theory, and ear training and understand that patience, persistence, and hard work are the key ingredients to learning and instructing properly.
I have studied guitar for nearly eleven years and have had formal training in Classical Guitar for the past three years. My experience in instructing formally is limited however I understand the importance of music theory, technique, and proper development of muscles as well as ear training. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, in 1989. Since graduation I have worked as both a full-time teacher and a substitute teacher. I have taught full-time at five different traditional schools and Florida Virtual School. In these positions, I have taught Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Algebra I, 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Math, Computer Applications, and various general math courses. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had many years in the feild of education, K - secondary. I have had the chance to teach many children with different disibilities during this time. After moving to Florida I began teaching private guitar and art lessons on Tyndall AFB and at my church. Having this experience has also taught me many things about how to deal with people and how different people learn differently. I've learned that the most effective way to teach (espcially art or music) is one on one or in small groups. In the past few years I have been working with military contractors and miss the feeling of knowing that I am enriching anothers persons life.

I have taught K-Post Secondary through out my teaching career. I have done a great deal of graphic design work with military contractors. However I am most happy teaching. I am trying to get back into that arena because I realize that I was meant to teach, and to help others. There is something that I like to call the WOW factor in teaching. This is when a student gets it! When the light bulb comes on, or when a student understands that THEY, on their own, did something that, up to that point was like hitting a brick wall.
