I really starting to help tutor people in high school. I found out that I enjoy helping people with there challenges and watching them succeed. I believe that when teaching or tutoring someone that you find a method that works for that person. That having a teaching template helps as a guide, but if you are not willing to change your method for the student they are never going to be able to retain the information for long term use. I enjoy helping students learn the concepts of mathematics/statistics and helping them to understand how to use these concepts in the real world. Math can be quite challenging, but with the right amount of effort, patience, and guidance, anyone can learn. I know this because I've tutored students as young as 12 and adults as old as 30. I enjoy tutoring and helping others to learn how to solve challenging problems. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models.
