A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout the past 25 years, I have developed a deep love for learning and helping others. I can usually be found volunteering for local services, outdoors or looking into a new course at the nearby college, etc. I recently completed my first full year of teaching in Houston, TX. I taught 6th grade Social Studies and Language Arts in an inner city situation. I believe that I learned just as much as the children or more. I have been teaching in many aspects over the last decade. After receiving my BA from Wheelock College, I have been a teacher in many areas. I have taught Oppositional Defiant 11-13 year olds, 1st grade in California, a third grade Structured English Immersion class in Phoenix, been a Newspaper in Education Coordinator, kindergarten, then first grade, and then fifth grade in California, and now .I have been working as a long-term substitute teacher as well as a daily substitute. As an aerospace engineering student at Embry-Riddle, mathematics comes quite easily to me. I enjoy solving and creating mathematical problems. At Embry-Riddle I quickly became known as the "go to" guy for all math related questions. Within the first two weeks of the first semester I was leading a Calculus 2 study group and retained my position as such until the end of the semester. While the study group dwindled in size for Calculus 3 I did still lead the group.
I enjoy teaching mathematics and biology. If the student is willing to learn in some fashion I can help him or her. I tend to teach by examples for mathematics and for biology I teach in a lecture style, answering questions in-depth when necessary. In both fields I can give in-depth explanations for concepts.
